L1 visa doubts

I came to US on L1B visa, my visa got expired on 05Feb2010 and my I-94 is valid till March 2012. I have contacted the immigration dept. of my company and they said I need not apply for L1 extension until 6 months before the date on I-94. So i need to apply for extension or not.. .Actually i need to sponsor my in laws.. Can i sponsor them on the bases of I-94.

Extension can be filed only 6 months before the status expiry. As long as you are inside the country, you can stay until the I-94 expiry. You in-laws will need a B1/B2 visa to travel to U.S. So you are all good. Talk to your company attroney and they should be able to help you gather required documents.
