  • L-1 A - VISA Stamping in India

Hi, I hold a L-1 A VISA. I applied for my second extension in Feb-2019. While my extension was in process, I had to travel to India last November.I received my extension approval in Feb-2020. While I was about to apply for VISA stamping, the consulate got closed due to the COVID issue. My approved I-797 has an I-94 which is valid till March-2021. The stamped VISA in my passport has expired on March-2017.

The client wants me to join at onsite ASAP.

    1. Since the embassy is closed, can I travel in the evacuation flight using the I-797 which has the I-94?
    2. Is there any other option to get the VISA stamping in the COVID situation?

    appreciate your suggestions.

    Thanks

I94 has no value after you leave USA - you need a valid visa stamped in your passport to enter into USA.
You can try to fly to a different country, where USA consulate is open & apply for the visa there. Otherwise no other option.

Thanks very much for your suggestion.
      1. Do you know any country which is open for VISA's now?
      2. As an Indian Citizen, will they allow me to get stamping in another country
      3. Do we need to submit a new DS-160, If we are allowed to get stamping from a different country.

Yes, lot of people gets their extension stamped in Canada/Mexico & returns back to USA if they don't want to go to their home country.
