  • L1-B Individual Petition approved but validity remaining only 2 years

    Hi,

I am new to this forum, but seen lots of useful information in the discussions here so posting my doubts too if someone please help me.
My L1-B individual petition was filed last year Nov 2019 in normal processing, received RFE in June 2020 and now finally approved last week, it has validity till Nov 2022 which is almost 2 year from now.
    Questions:

    1. Currently U.S. consulates and embassies are temporarily closed in India(New Delhi) but I hope it will resume starting of next year then when I appear for visa interview and if I got the visa my petition will remain valid for further 1.5 years, so does my visa will be valid for only 1.5 years or visa will have its own validity for 3 years since the date of visa stamping?

    2. What are the chances of getting visa stamp now a days once L1-B individual petition is approved? Is it similar (tough) to L1-B Blanket process which happens in Chennai consulate?

    Thank You in advance.

Depends upon your VO. My petition was for 3 years, but they gave me visa for 5 years.

An approved individual petition means you've already cleared the major part, just stay confident during your interview.

      1. Your visa will expire the same date as on the approval notice.
      2. It is easier than L-1B Blanket because your L-1B has already been adjudicated by USCIS, but the consular officer can ask you questions to really ascertain if you really have specialized knowledge, etc.

That's usually the case, but not always true.
