  • Time Lapse in Visa | Does the clock reset?

Hello, looking for a better understanding of my time away from the US and my visa. Situation below.

Transferred internally to the USA in 2014 under an L1a Visa, spent my initial 3 years, and then received a 2-year extension. In the middle of my 2-year extension, I was transferred back to Canada. I only spent 18 months in Canada and was transferred back to the USA once again under an L1a and received an initial 3 years and I am being told that due to my time away the clock resets and I get another 7 year period. All of my research shows that this could be incorrect as your total time in the US under a L1 must not exceed 7 years total.

I would appreciate it if someone could shed some light on the actual amount of time allowed and is there a "reset" switch?

you would have be outside the US longer than 18 months to 'reset the clock.'

      Hi Member,
If you are stayed in out side of country for continuous 365 days then your L1 period will reset and you will have again actual years in your account.
      Thanks
