  • L2 Visa Spouse EAD

I have recently arrived in the US on an L1A visa, and my wife now holds an L2 visa.

She is interested in working in the US. Do we need to apply for an EAD, or is it not required for L2 visas anymore?

She already has a Social Security Number (SSN).

Does her visa have a stamp called L2S - there should be the letter "S" in the stamp. Then she can work without any further EAD application.

This can also be verified by generating i94 from CHS portal.

Pls let me know if this worked for you.

Yeah if I94 has L2S, no need to apply for EAD. I started working without EAD since Apr 2023 with that I94.

        Hi
My interview for the L2 visa will be in July. What are the chances to get approved and what questions should i be looking for to be asked by interviewer! please recommend any suggestion. Thank you

She can simply show her L2 visa and SSN during the job application process to demonstrate her work authorization.
          Hi,
I believe that there are WORK RESTRICTIONS implied as well for L2 Visa holders!!
If the wife has L2S she can work (No Restrictions) BUT if wife have L2R She has work restrictions!!

            Hi
Please if I may ask does your wife have L2S or L2R Visa? If L2R, has she applied for any job and is she working now? Please elaborate on this?
            Thanks

Totally get the confusion — I was digging through similar paperwork stuff recently, and it felt like going down a rabbit hole. While sifting through all the legal jargon, I stumbled on something entirely unrelated but honestly kind of mind-blowing. There’s this ai clothes remover tool over on Undress AI, and it seriously shocked me how far image processing tech has come. You’d think something like that would be clunky or ****-looking, but it’s disturbingly advanced. Just shows how AI is weaving its way into the most unexpected places — whether you're sorting out forms or scrolling through tools you didn’t know existed.

                Hi,

I’m currently an F-1 student and eligible to apply for CPT (Curricular Practical Training) up to three times during my studies. I’ve already used one CPT for a previous internship. I still have two more years of study ahead and two CPTs remaining. However, I’m only allowed to apply for one CPT per semester.

I recently received an offer for my dream job, and the company would like to employ me part-time for the entire duration of my studies. Based on the CPT limit, I would only be able to work for them for one year before running out of CPTs (1 year consits of 2 semesters, so my remaining 2 CPTs would be used). To avoid having to leave the company, my fiancé and I are considering getting married as soon as possible.

He currently holds an L-1 visa, and if we marry, I should be able to apply for L-2 status, which would allow me to work without restrictions – is that correct?

Can I apply for an L-2 visa while I still have active CPT?
Would it be better and faster to apply for the L-2 visa in my home country (Germany), or can I do it from within the U.S.?
What is the faster and more secure option?
And approximately how long does it take to receive the new status after applying?

My biggest concern is that the L-2 visa process might take so long and I wouldn’t be allowed to work during that time that the company won’t wait for me, and I’ll lose the job.

Thank you so much for your help!

                Best regards,
                Chiara
