Special case extension because of medical condition

Hi,
My company has applied for extension of my L1 visa. My grace period(240 days) is coming to an end in Mid-April. We will not be able to travel back to India during that time because my wife is expecting a baby and she will medically not be allowed to travel. Is there a provision for an extension for these cases?
