  • Dependent of Blanket L1

    Hi,

I am on L1-B. My wife's visa extension has been applied on 3-8-2011.
    1. Is there any faster processing for blanket petitions for dependents?
    2. What is the processing time for her extension (not received the receipt number yet)?

    Please help.

    Regards,
    MMB

Are you both in the US? Did your wife or somebody on her behalf file I-539 to extend her status?
There is no premium processing for I-539, but there are very few reasons why it will be denied. Why do you want it urgently?
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

I need this urgently because she has a job at hand and needs to join it asap.

You did not answer the first few questions that I asked.
Does she have EAD or has she applied for it?

She has an EAD which is valid till Apr 15, 2011. Now her Visa extension is in process at Vermont Service CEnter. And they are saying that currently they are 5 months behind in processing. They are processing applications dated Oct 2, 2010.
Does it mean it will take 5 months in my wife's case?
Is there a way we can apply for her EAD with the L2 Visa Extension receipt num (I797)?

          Please help.

You can try sending the EAD application with I-539 receipt and a cover letter asking for processing with I-539 (extension of status). 5 months is too much, they will process the I-539 in about 2-3 months max. But unfortunately there is no sureshot way of expediting the process.

Thank you so much for the information.
