  • L2 surname not in passport

    Hi,

My L1A has been approved as well as my dependents' L2. But my spouse's passport does not have any Surname mentioned. My company's Visa team suggested me to enter Given Name as FNU and Surname as the given name in Passport. I'm not sure if there will be any problem because of this as I'm unaware of immigration procedures in the US.

    Appreciate a response.

    Thanks
    Manish

Since your spouse does not have a surname in Passport, that is way to go.

However, it may create practical difficulties later because not everybody understands this. SS card may have FNU and so will driver's license. To avoid this is possible change the name in passport to reflect surname and name and then apply for the Visa again.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
