L1 Visa - Filing a new one instead of Extension

My L1 is expiring in June and my company is filing a new L1 instead of extension.
I will be required to go to India for stamping.

With the current visa stamping situation in India, is it advisable to go to India or file an extension here?

Any specific reason, why you are choosing NEW L1, rather than just extending the existing L1? You should be able to extend the current L1, with a new I-94, which will allow you to continue to stay and work legally in the US. Whenever you exit US, you will have to stamp the same in your passport to enter back.

It is up to your company to decide when and how they want you to work in the US. Every petition is a new petition, the only difference is whether it extends your status or not.
