Urgent visa question

Hi Experts


Need an advise to help prevent any adverse impacts to my visa status.

I work for a reputed IT firm and below is my situation

- I am on L1-B Blanket petition
- I94 valid till March 2014
- Visa and petition expiring in April 2011

I have consulted the immigration services of my company and they are all of the opinion that since i am on blanket visa and my I94 is valid i am legal to stay and work till march 2014.

wanted an opinion from you if thats true because i am hearing mixed responses from external sources/agencies.

Please help your advise would be highly appreciated.

You can stay until your I-94 expires.

Visa stamp is only for entering the U.S.

I know i can stay but what about work, am i authorized to work on an L1-B (Blanket) even with an expired visa/I129 ?

Visa stamp and I-129 are two different things.

Visa stamp is used to travel into the US. As long as you have a valid L status, you can still work if your visa stamp is expired.

I am not sure what you mean by your I-129 has expired. Are you referring to Blanket L1B? Has that expired?

Visa expired Jan 2011
I 129 (Blanket Petition) expired Jan 2011
I94 valid thru Feb 2013


Considering the above please suggest if i am legal to stay and work in USA

If blanket petition has expired in Jan 2011, on what basis did you get I-94 valid through Feb 2013?

I do not know myself the officer just put that date on the I94 this time when i came to US in Feb 2010.


Same thing has happened with my wife her visa/blamket petition expires in May 2011 and she came to US this time in Feb 2011 and has got an I94 valid till Feb 2014.


Can you please advise if its legal to stay and work in this situation ?
