Applying for L1 visa while H1 is in progress

I have applied for H1B visa separately on my own with a new employer without interfering my current job. I.e. my current employer doesn't know about my application for H1B visa with a new (future) employer. However the H1 visa process is suspended for more documents which I am not able to produce due to external dependencies.

Now my current employer wants to file my L1 visa for a position in USA.
I am not sure about all legal complexities (or road blockers) for this case. Can I file for L1 while holding H1B's I797?

My H1 visa processing is also kind of halted thus I am planning to go to USA using L1 with current employer. Can you tell me what should I do here? Should I surrender my H1 application and file L1?

I am afraid if I tell my current employer about my H1, he will fire me. Please guide me what to do.

You don't have to tell your current employer about the H1B processing. Let your current employer go ahead and start you L1 filing. There will be no issues.
