  • L2 interview on 29th March, Need urgent HELP.

    Hi All,

I have my L2 interview on 29th March.

I was going through my DS160 application and preparing for interview, I got few questions. Could any one please provide me your valuable answers.

    1. I filled DS-160 form under Travel Information "Person/Entity Paying for Your Trip", I selected "Company/Organization" and under this option I have given my spouse employer details.
During interview if VO asked the same question to me, I would like to answer like this "My spouse employer providing just air tickets rest of the things will bare my spouse". Is that make sense?

    2. Under "Intended length of stay in the US" option, I have given 3 months. If that is the case will they approve my visa just 3 months or what? My spouse visa is valid till feb 2014 and I-94 is valid till dec 2014.

    3. If VO asked "Why do you need a visa to USA" question to me. I have few answers like "I want to accompany with my wife for few months" or "I want to live with my wife". what would be the best answer to convince VO.

    4. I am working in hyderabad as s/w engineer, I have mentioned the same details in DS160 form. During interview if they ask anything about my employment like "did you quit your current job" or "How long did you take for long leave". in that case Do I need to carry the approved leave letter and experience letters? One thing is if my visa approved then I'll quit my job and go.

Kindly provide me the answers. Thank you for your patience to read and respond all my questions.

    Thanks,
    Rao

    >>> Yes.

    2. Under "Intended length of stay in the US" option, I have given 3 months. If that is the case will they approve my visa just 3 months or what? My spouse visa is valid till feb 2014 and I-94 is valid till dec 2014.
    >>> If you mention 3 months, then you may get the visa only for 3 months. Calculate your spouse's petition expiry date (not I-94) and mention that.

    3. If VO asked "Why do you need a visa to USA" question to me. I have few answers like "I want to accompany with my wife for few months" or "I want to live with my wife". what would be the best answer to convince VO.
    >>> Either of these will do. As long a syour are not going to U.S for anything else apart from accompanying your spouse as a dependent, you are good.

    4. I am working in hyderabad as s/w engineer, I have mentioned the same details in DS160 form. >>> Well, you can mention the same to the VO. There is nothing wrong in what you are trying to do.

Thank you for prompt response shervin.
I have one question on top of your answers.

I already mentioned 3 months in DS160. my wife petition expiry date is 16th feb 2014. will they accept if i say I'll be stay in US till my spouse petition expiry date. as we are already mention 3 months in form. I am little confusing and scaring on this question.

      Thank you once again.

      Thanks,

Well, I cannot predict how long the VO might issue you the visa. Most likely only for 3 months since that is what you have requested in Ds160. What if the VO don't even ask you about your duration of stay in U.S? Sometimes the interview time is less than 5 - 10 minutes and you will have time only to answer what the VO asks. By the way, visa is only an entry document to U.S. When you enter U.S, they will issue you a I-94 at the POE based on your spouse's L1 petition expiry date and you can stay until the I-94 expiry date. However, if you leave U.S and want to re-enter again, you will need a valid visa again. In such case, if you want to re-enter again in L2 after 3 months, you will have to apply for the L2 visa again. Talk to VFS helpdesk and see if they can fix the DS160 that is already submitted. You can also cancel the existing appointment, fill a new DS160 and take the visa interview again.
