L2 to EAD - Can I go out of status?

Hello folks,
I am currently on L2 - I am planning to apply for my EAD in another 2-3 days.
Question:- After getting my EAD, can I work with any employer, and most importantly, can I change employers? If I stop working, will I go out of status?
Also it would be great if some one could give me pointers on what RFE's to expect when filing for the EAD.

You can work for any employer and you can change employers.
