  • Permanent employement on L2

My husband is having L2 and he got a job offer with one company on his EAD. Before joining the company, they are asking him whether he is interested in taking a permanent position with them.
my question is on L2, how does it work? What should be the visa status, if he needs to be a permanent employee? any solution for this?

    Thanks

He can join as a permanant employee in L2 EAD and there are no issues with that. However, L2 is dependent on L1. If you (L1 holder) goes out of status or chnages to any other status (say H1B) or leave the country, he can no longer work as he will not be in L2 status anymore. If the company can file H1B for him with an effective date of Oct 1st, then he can continue in L2 EAD until September and then from Oct 1st his status will change to H1B and he will no longer be dependent on you (L1 holder) being in valid status.
