L1b rejection

hello, i came to US in Aug.2008 on L1B.stayed till march 2011.went back to India for extension.but got rejected at the consulate.Then the same company processed my H1B which got stamped in Dec.2011 and I returned to US in April. 2012.How long can I stay in US on my H1B.Am I eligible for another extension when the visa expires in june2013.Please help.Thank you in advance.

Typically stay on L1 + H1 can only be for 6 Years. But as you were outside US for over a Year it might be possible to stay 6 Years on the Fresh H1B which you got stamped in Dec 2011. Why was the visa given only till June 013? IS it because your passport is expiring by that time or the petition is valid only till June 13? In my opinion, you should be able to get an Cap exempt extension beyond June 2013 provided your employer is able to show work for you beyond that time and you have a valid passport. Do consult a good immigration attorney to understand your options.
