  • Applying for both L1 and L2

Me and my husband are planning to apply for L1 visa.
    1. Can I apply for L1 and L2 together as I will have a option of getting of getting L2 even if my L1 is rejected?

    2. Is there any gap needed between L1 and L2 applications? Can I attend L2 interview on next day itself along with my husband?

    3. If my L1 is rejected, will that affect my L2 approval?

    1. Can I apply for L1 and L2 together as I will have a option of getting of getting L2 even if my L1 is rejected?
    >>> You can apply together. There is no L2 without L1. If L1 is rejected, most likely L2 will also get rejected.

    2. Is there any gap needed between L1 and L2 applications? Can I attend L2 interview on next day itself along with my husband?
    >>> You can. It is advisable to attend the L2 visa along with your spouse's L1 interview in one single slot.

    3. If my L1 is rejected, will that affect my L2 approval?
    >>> L2 is dependent on L1. You cannot enter U.S in L2 visa without the L1 holder. So obviously if L1 is rejected so will L2 (In most cases).
Not a legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

      L2 Visa for Husbands

      Hi,

My wife's company has applied for my L2 visa and my interview date is on 2nd July 2012. My wife went to US on 10th June 2012 on L1 visa for her long term assignment.

I am in lot of confusion about my approval of L2 visa as I have not gone through a single thread here of L2 visa for husbands. (as all are of wife applying for L2 visa)

Also, want help on the type of questions asked to L2 applicants and specifically when Husband is applying for L2. My wife has left first on L1 and she is now in US so is there would be any concern about why I have not applied along with my wife?

Do I need to carry my educational certificates, experience letter, present employer's appointment letter etc.?

      Please reply on urgent basis.

      Thanks in advance.

Both L1 and L2 for myself

My question was about L1 for myself and L2 as a dependent Visa based on my husband's L1.

Can I apply for both L1 for myself and L2 along with my husband’s L1 so that I can go in L2 if my L1 is rejected? I will not apply for L2 if I get L1. But until what time do we have the flexibility to decide on this? Can we decide whom to apply for L2 on the day of interview?

You have to decide beforehand. One can have only active L1 OR active L2 in the passport. If one is having L1 in passport and if one goes for L2 interview the first thing that the VO does is cancel the L1 (they mark it CWOP - Cancelled without Prejudice). Similarly, if one has L2 stamped in the passport and one goes for L1 visa stamping, they cancel the existing L2. This is my opinion not legal advice.
