I applied for L2 EAD form I-765 on 16th April'12. When I check the USCIS site for status it still says Initial Review, the biometrics were completed on 16th May. They have not asked for any RFE yet

Questions:

1: Is it possible that the EAD is denied?

2: I have a job offer in hand, Can I join while EAD is in progress?

You still have some more time for your EAD, lets say 16th July. In many cases, online status is not being updated, so you can expect your EAD in 2 to 3 weeks from now or much earlier than that. I have seen my friends who got their EAD and online status updated after a day or two. Good luck.

>>> You cannot assume that until you get a rejection from USCIS. It takes about 2-3 months to get a decision. You need to be patient. Don't rely on the online case tracker as it is not up-to-date most of the time.
