OPT possible after a one year Masters program?

Hi,

I am considering a one year masters program at one of the better universities in US. However, I need to make sure if OPT is possible after one year. Does anyone know if there are any rules regarding this? Also, I have already been on a F1 once and graduated from a US college, and used one year of OPT. This will be my second time applying for F1 and later OPT. Is it possible to get OPT twice?

Did you get your previous OPT for Master's degree? If so you can only get it again for a higher degree level (PhD).

Otherwise it is necessary that you have been a full-time student for at least 1 academic year before you can apply for OPT. Ask your school's DSO and they can tell you if you will be able to get OPT for a 1 year degree.
