  • Valid I20 + expired F1, but this I20 isn't the one that was used to enter the US last

    Hi,

I have a question regarding my F1 visa. My F1 visa is valid until February 2014 but I have a valid I20 until 2015 and a I94 with D/S noted on it.
So I believe that it means that I can stay until my I20 expires even though my F1 will expire before.

But this I20 isn't the one I used to enter the US because I changed school in the meantime. Therefore, this I20 valid until 2015 has not stamp or anything that was marked on it by the customs officer. Does that change anything to the situation?

    Thank you.

As long as the I-20 is valid and signed by an authorized institution, it doesn't need stamped by the customs officer for it to be valid. During the gap of your visa expiration and the I-20 expiration, you just can't travel outside the US and come back unless it's to some surrounding countries in limited cases.
