H4 to F1 Visa timelines

I am on H4 visa and applied for F1 visa in March 2015. My course will be completing in May 2016. Based on the timelines on USCIS website, Vermont Service Center is processing Oct 13, 2014 applications.

1. Has anybody else on the forum applied around Feb/Mar 2015 and waiting or received F1 visa?

2. How long USCIS generally is taking these days to process F1 visa applications for people on H4. Any thoughts on by when I could expect my F1 petition to come through based on your experience.

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Hi,

California Service Center processes H4 to F1 in 3 to 4 months. Vermont is very slow.

I applied for H4 to F1 in July 2015 and approved on October 10th 2015 at California.

H4 visa

i have the same isssue.

i filed i539 change of status from f1 to h4 in feb 23 2012.
contacted uscis 5 times through calls, email and infopass.
i got the same reply about security check waiting.
also consulted lawyer.
he just told to wait and watch, as lawyers cannot do anything in security check.
still they says that if i donot receive any response within 6 months from today, then only contact the uscis office.
meanwhile i lost my f1 status in august 2012. due to school shut down.
right now i dont know what to do.

should i reapply for F1 reinstatement (extension of stay), just to reactivate my f1 status?
or
i can legally stay without f1 reinstatement, as my i539 COS from f1 to H4 is pending since 6 months?
