1. My current F1 visa expires on August 21, 2017 and my OPT expires on September 11, 2017.
2. I have OPT STEM I-20 on hand, but I do not have EAD card (expecting to get it sometime in October)
3. I have NOT graduated. Expecting to graduate while on STEM extension. Filed STEM extension based a prior degree (Master’s) and will graduate with a PhD.
Question 1: If I go to my home country (India) and apply for F1 visa renewal with STEM I-20, what is likely to happen from below three?
a. Denial
b. Granted
c. 221(g) until I receive STEM EAD card
Question 2: In the case of denial, will my previous visa and current OPT be still valid so that I can return to the US before August 21, 2017?
I have to travel out of the US for business purpose, which is why I want to review VISA. My H1B was not selected in last two consecutive attempts.
