  • F1 student, OPT Completed, H1B was in process, Cap Gap completed and H1B Denied.

    Hi All,

I am an F1 student graduated in June 2016, My CPT got over by June 2017. As my H1B was being processed, I was in Cap GAP till Sep 30th 2017. Yesterday (12/20/2017) I got my H1B DENIED. I have applied for a college and got an admit from that college for the early Spring 2018 program.

When I checked with my earlier university, they informed that my Sevis was completed and my new university doesn't accept completed sevis.

Now my questions is - can I get a new I20 with a new Sevis ID from my university and continue to study, as my initial F1 visa is valid till June 2019? or should I apply for a new fresh F1 student visa to be able to attend the course?

Please share your comments and thanks for all the help.

You've been out of status for far too long to do F1-F1 reinstatement. You'll need to get a new visa. Talk to your DSO
