F1 visa stamping during the semester

Hello,

I am a Ph.D. student in the US. My F1 visa has expired and so have to get a new visa stamping.
I plan to travel during the semester (March/April) for a month and apply for a student visa at Mumbai consulate.
I am going to see my family after three years and I do not have any classes now, only thesis credits every semester.

Would it be okay to travel during the semester for visa stamping?
Or advisable to travel only during the semester breaks (like summer or Christmas)?

Please share your suggestions/ideas/experiences.

Hi Akash,

I am in a similar situation. I started my program on H4 visa in Fall 2017 and had applied for COS here. But looks like it will take a long time for the cos to be done. I need to travel to India in April 2018 (mid-semester) and plan to go for stamping. Could you please let me know if its advisable and possibly share your experience on this situation too.
