Hi,
This is Mahua Chakraborty. I got selected for a Ph.D. program in the State Univ of NewYork for Fall 2006. I am also offered a tuition scholarship and annual stipend as a Graduate Assistant. But in order to avail that I need to be in F1 visa status. So I am planning to get my visa status changed from H4(present visa) to F1 by applying to USCIS next month.
Now my doubt is that if the status change takes a long time, say >2months i.e. even after my registration if it's not done then am I going to forfeit the amount of money for that period of time starting from my registration or I shall get it later as soon as I am in F1?
