  • Wife applying for F2 Visa

After loosing my job about a year ago I had to change my visa status from H1 to F1 while still living in the US. My F1 is approved but since I have not left the country, I don't have the F1 Visa stamped on my passport. My wife who was here on H4 visa had to go back to India after I lost my job. Now I am planning to get her back into US on a F2 visa. I already have all the financial documents and a I-20 for her from the college.
    1. What I want to know is, do I need to have my F1 visa stamped on my passport before I can apply for F2 visa for my wife ?
    2. Will she able to apply for the F2 visa with my F1 approval notice from USCIS, I-20 with approval stamp from USCIS and the I-20 issued by the college (school) in her name (and other required documents except my F1 visa)?
    Will appreciate you help.
    Thanks.

Visa is only required for entering the US. She is good to apply. She may be asked to show ties to home country by property, family or job. She may also be asked to show that you have sufficient funds for her living so that she will not have work just to support herself.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
