  • F-2 dependent

    Hi All,

My F-1 visa expires in August 2012 , but I have an EAD valid till next year so that I can stay in US and work. Now my question is what happens to my dependent's visa? Will it be valid till the expire date of my EAD? or is it valid only till my F-1 visa?

    Thanks

Are you married? If no when are you planning to get married?
Technically your status is not related to your Visa, but I have read of cases where F2 was denied because the F1 was expired. So if your spouse applies for F2 before your F1 Visa expires, they may be able to get F2 Visa at least until your F1 expiry. Then your spouse can travel to US any time before their F2 Visa expires. Once in the US their I-94 will be D/S meaning that they can stay in the US as long as your F1 status is valid (end of OPT + 60 days).
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
