FI Visa Extension

I have a F1 Visa that expires in December 2012. I unfortunately missed the cap or deadline for approval this year for the H1B1 and if I understand correctly can not refile until next year around April. What are my options in the interim with regard to continuing in my work program between December 2012 and April 2013. Is there a such thing as a F1 Visa extension. Please advise. And thank you.

With what kind of authorization do you work right now? CPT or OPT? And when are you graduating. You can only maintain F-1 status as a full time student, or on post-completion OPT.
