Hello,
I am a Canadian citizen and am holding a TN-1 visa for work here in the US. My contract expired mid-May and the return date on the visa allows just enough time to drive home. What I would like to do is to remain in the US as a tourist following my contract, for only a week or so past the return date. This would allow me to do some sight-seeing on the way home.
What I am wondering is if staying past the date with no modification to my visa status will cause a lot of trouble, or create problems when applying for future visas. If so, is there a way to extend my stay as a tourist, without visiting a border station (I am in southern California, so the border is not exactly accessible)? Thanks for any insight.
Kyle
