  • L2 to TN

    Hi,
I am a Canadian and currently I am on L2 visa,my husbands company is applying for H1 for him.
I am presently working on an EAD.
Once his L1 has been changed to H1 (Since L1 can be renewed only 2 times),I will not be allowed to work under L2's EAD, as my visa would then be H4 (I believe), can I apply for a TN?

Currently I hold a permanent job and would not like to lose the benefits.
How can I get a TN visa and continue with the same job?
What would be the procedure/formalities to get a TN visa? What do I have to tell my HR in order for them to give me a letter?
How long is a TN visa normally issued for, is it 1 yr or 3 yrs?
How many times can I renew it.
My husbands Company is applying for GC which will take couple of years.

Hope some one can shed some light on it.

    Tnx
    Paps

Firstly you have to check to see if the TN visa is issued for your category of work. Not every work category can get a TN VISA ( similar to a H1 too).

If it is then by all means you can apply for it... I think it is issue between 1 to 3 years.

Sorry I cannot help you on your other question on TN Visa but do read here about details on TN VISA.
