  • TN visa questions and preparation

Hi all. I got my tn support letter from my company, the official job offer, and I think I’m ready to go. I just want to clarify a few things before I actually head to the POE land crossing later this week. I’m a Canadian citizen.
    1. I will print out my tn support letter, job offer, resume and bring my printed official transcript as well as my official real degree from the university. Is there anything else I need? I’m assuming I should study my job offer and support letter just so I can answer any questions when they ask at the land crossing?
    2. I keep hearing about the 10-day start date thing. But I’m confused. For example, let’s say my start date is April 18th. And I go to apply for a TN visa on April 8th. The issue is I haven’t put in my 2 week notice at my current employer (just as a precaution that I don’t get approved). So my actual tn support letters say April 18th https://omegle.onl/ vshare start date, but I already told my new employer that I haven’t put in my 2 week notice and I may need to start later than April 18th. Is that a problem? Or can I just go and apply with this tn support letter that says a start date of April 18th and once I get approved I can put in my 2 week notice and actually start later than that? I will be commuting crossing the border everyday and not living in the US if that makes a difference.

Id appreciate any and all advice and information. Please let me know if you require additional information from me.

    Thanks!

Hello, I’m a Mexican TN holder so I hope this helps you.

    1. Yes, study your job offer letter and your resume just in case they ask you questions about it and you don’t look like you don’t have idea of what you’d be doing. Also, super important that your letter says that your job position title matches the NAFTA list (for example, I’m an engineer so the a job title for a position should say “IT specialist Engineer” or “Production Manager Engineer”). Cause they check if your academic background matches the job they’re offering to you.
Take with you all the documents that can prove you have the academic background to fulfill the position.

    2. the dates on the letter are the dates your new employer essentially wants you to start. And they help you when it comes to your permit, they take those into consideration, but if you don’t start on the date your letter says, it’s ok. As long as your new employer doesn’t mind you starting after April 18th (which they usually don’t cause they’re already waiting for you to do the process and they know it could take weeks).

it is uncommon for them to deny this kind of visa since the requirements for it are very specific and you’re already meeting basically of them.

    GOOD LUCK!
