  • Refused tourist visa 25 yars ago..should I mention it on ESTA?

    Hi all

I want to visit the US ...with the visa waiver scheme

I was refused a tourist visa 25 years ago....

You reckon it's still in the database?

Should I put it down on the application or leave it in the dustbin of history?

    Any info appreciated

I don’t know how long they keep the information, but if you lie about it on the ESTA and they find out at the border when you land, it can cause some issues. In worst case you will be sent back and the event will definitely be added to the record which means that you can’t use the VWP again. On the other hand, telling the truth on the ESTA (regardless if it’s still in the record) might result in a denial, in which case you have to apply for a visa. It might work to email the US Embassy and ask.

Are you suggesting that the ESTA database and the database at the points of entry is different?

      Hard to believe...

I'm sure it's the same database. I'm just saying that not being honest when filling out the ESTA can cause issues if they find out about it.

How old were you 25 years ago? If you were a child, you can always claim at the POE that you had no idea.
