  • Spelling mistake in first name on ESTA

    Hello,

I was wondering if someone can help. I have recently completed the ESTA process for my wife, daughter and myself but have subsequently realised that when they pulled the info from my passport for mine, it misspelt my first name and I didn’t notice (D instead of O in JONATHAN)

I phoned the helpline (was on hold to a US number for 20 mins so it has probably cost a fortune) and was told I’d have to do a new application and pay again. Pretty outrageous and annoying but I went ahead and tried to do that anyway. However, because I was using the same surname and passport number, it won’t let me pay for a new one, but instead just shows the details of my previous application which has been approved (still with the typo).

Any ideas? Can I assume I’m going to have problems if the name on the ESTA doesn’t exactly match the name on my passport? Am I going to have to call them again?

I would just try to fly with what you have.
