Hello All,
My mother-in law's visitor visa was denied at the US consulate in Mumbai. We wanted her to visit the US for 4 weeks. Her visa interview was in Hindi and only two questions were asked:
1) Who is sponsoring your visa? Answer- My daughter
2) What does your daughter do? Answered (My wife has a good job/designation and is working for the last 7 years)
There were no questions about family members, why you want to go, pay slips , I-134 etc. She offered to show all her supporting documents but the visa officer (Indian/or PIO) didn't want to see anything and just said that your visa application has been denied.
Details of the applicant:
- Mother-in-law is a widow (62 years old)
- Homemaker
- 3 children (1 son in Germany, 1 son in Dubai and 1 daughter in the US)
- She owns her own home and has a small savings but gets support from her children
- Has visited Dubai
Our/sponsor's details:
- We have been in the US for 9 years. First on F1 visas and now on H1
- Work full time on H1-B visas for good companies. We have valid multiple-entry stamps and visit India when we get time.
- Have no children (so this visit was not about taking care/visiting grand children)
We were a little disappointed but are hoping to apply again after 6 months. Any input on what we should do differently for next time would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
