  • Successful B2 visa interview in Chennai [For Parents doing Agriculture]

My parents got their visa successfully yesterday in Chennai and i would like share the experience so it might help someone.

I was looking at lot of forums to get some idea for applying visitor visa for parents doing Agriculture.I didn't get much information , so i thought this might help somebody.I might have missed something ,but tried to mention most of them.

Apart from the documents that we sent it from here , below are the ones that my dad prepared on their side

    1.Passport

2.If there is any difference in your parents name in your passport and theirs get a "Affidavit for
One and the same person" .[ I had this problem]

    3.Bank passbook [both parents].

4.Get a certificate from your local VAO ,which estimates your land values and income from the land.[Auditor needs this certificate].

5.Get a certificate from Auditor ,which consolidates their total property value like land ,house, bank balance etc.

    6.property documents.

    7.photo[US Visa standard] .

While filling the DS160 ,we entered the below information, but i am not sure whether is this right way of doing,

    1) Primary Occupation

    select "Agriculture"

    2) Present Employer or School Name

    "SELF-Employed"

    3) Present Employer or School Address

    Home Address

    4) Monthly salary in Local currency

    Annual income divided by 12

    5) Briefly describe your duties

    Farming

Below are the questions that VO asked my parents

1.Whom do you want to visit in USA.
    2.What is your son-in-law doing
    3.What is your daughter doing
4.Where are they staying in USA.
5.How many months are you planning to stay.
6.How many children do you have?
    7.what are you doing?
8.How many acres of land do you have?
9.What are the crops are you growing in your farm.
10.How many labors are working in the farm.

Your visa is approved and you will get the passport in one week.

Hope this helps[This is just our experience]

Thank you for posting your experience.

Please explain what is VAO, how to contact one.

Who are the auditors? Where to cnotact one? What is their qualification? Is that same as CA?

      Hi vani
I need my mother to come USA expecting b2 visa for. She is widow. I have one elder brother and elder sister in India. Both are married. She has some agriculture land (coconut farm) around 1.5 acre and house in my father name . But she has other 10 acres in commonly which is not in my father name but it belongs to my dad in future( my mom has ' karaar pathiram' in tamil for that) . She is a pension holder and canara bank account holder which has around 10 year transactions.

We submitted ds160 form with the data ' homemaker ' in what u do column for my mother

      Now my doubt is
      - is it must to get estimated values for those farm land and house?
      - if so can u please tell in detail how to get? How long it will take ?
      - you said in your post first has to approach VAO then auditor. If approaching VAO what documents he will ask and how long he will take to produce the certificate?
      - after what is the procedure to approach auditor?

Can u please tell the details. Expecting your reply.
