  • Ok to sponsor?

I would like to invite my in-laws to the US on a B2 visa, but I am not sure whether to sponsor them or not.
From sites like **** **** ***.com, people repeatedly say that visitor visa is NOT sponsored and there is nothing
I can send them to strengthen their case in the consulate.
But on this site, there is a list of sponsoring documents (I-134, tax forms, bank statements, etc.)
I am worried that if I send them documents showing my financial situation (which is good), the consulate may think there
is intent to immigrate. But if I don't, I am not sure if they have enough funds to support themselves. What do you think?

The difference is that Visa is not sponsored but trip may be sponsored. So, it is okay to say that you will take care of their expenses here and the consular officer may want to see evidence that you have enough money to support them while here. If they have sufficient money in their own bank accounts (about $5K to $10K per person is probably sufficient), they can show their own money. What definitely makes no difference is things like Senator's letters or letter from your employer etc. IMO documents such as bank statements are rarely asked for. Consular officers make their decision based on family, job or property ties.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

A lot of parents and in-laws , are successful in getting visas if the US host sends funding papers ( i-134, bank statements , tax returns)

More important than funding is their ties to home country. Children in India and working status of dad/dad-in-law are important positive
points. If parents are retired with low or no pension and all their children are in US, it becomes harder to get a visitor visa.

Whatever the case may be, their ties to their home country are very important. What is the background on your ILs ? Is your wife their only daughter ? Are they retired ? Have a job ? How much property ? Filed tax returns ? I think if you provide all details most people here can help you with something.
Your ILs already know their daughter is pregnant. The VO will know it in no time. A mother going to US in helping her daughter with pregnancy and not sufficient home ties are a sure denial in almost all cases.
