  • Mother B2 visa denied 214(b) - Chennai

    Hello,

My mother's b2 visa was denied in chennai consulate (after they close on Jan 31st unexpectedly). Here are the questions asked (in tamil)

VO : What is your income?
Mom: 2lac yearly plus interests from 30 lac deposits
VO: How many kids you have?
    Mom: One
VO kept asking the question 3 times and then said she cannot be granted visa. No other reason was provided other than standard 214(b) printed document with details in tamil/kannada/telugu/malayalam

I am worried now how soon I can re-apply and try one more time. Here are more details:

    1.One Child
    2.Widow
    3. Child in USA for 13 years
    4. Green Card (2 years left in path to citizenship)

How soon I can re-apply and what are my chances? Will these rejections play a role in my Mother's green card (eventually after getting my citizenship)

    Thanks for all your suggestions

Sorry to say the chances of your mother getting a visitor visa are slim.

Reason is a bad combination of

    -no husband,-
    - only child in US
    - and low Indian income.

That shows Indian ties are very weak.

Reapplying will not change any of that.

Visitor visa rejection will not have any effect on the green card process .
( only way it can affect is if someone lies or misrepresents facts).

PS; BTW, You can expedite US citizenship if you are married to a US citizen.
