  • US B2 Visa - Info on possibility of getting accepted

    I am here on behalf of my parents and sister planning to visit US for 2 months as tourist for summer holidays to see my grandparents and uncle settled in US. My dad is a bank employee working in the same bank for last 30 years, Mom is an insurance advisor, my sister was doing her 11th standard currently. I have no links with US, since studying MS in Singapore. Till date income tax was payed properly and bank accounts were proper. Having properties in India too.

    My question is will there be any problems in getting Visa granted for this profile for three of them. My uncle has accepted that he will sponsor for entire travel and expense over there in US. Plan was to return back to India by june first week before school starts for my sister.

    Thanks in advance for your time and much awaited suggestions.

    More important than US sponsorship are ties to India.

    *Do you have any siblings living with your parents besides your sister?
    * What is your parents' family income yrly ( mom + dad from all sources)
    ( <5L, 5-10L, >10L)?
    * Is your dad in a pvt or a govt bank?
    * Your parents ever been outside India before?
    * Any previous US visa denials?
    * Your grandparents , they are your dad's parents-- what is their visa status in US and when did they go and settle there?

        I think your parents have a very good chance of approval.
        because your dad's income is good, a very good job, history of travel abroad and purpose of visit is concrete.

        But this is important;
        *. He should not get sponsorship from his brother in US. Just an invitation on your uncle's letterhead is enough.
        Sponsorship means uncle sending your dad an affidavit of support ( I-134) which is a negative.
        With his income, he can say he is funding the trip himself.

        Are you in singapore or living with your parents in INdia?

            @peace999: Thanks once again.

            Made note of info that you have provided in above quote. We have few fixed deposits in bank with that planning to show source of funds. Those were in my dad's name. Can we show those as a source of funds ? We have properties too in India.

            At present I'm working in India, living with my parents. Got confirmed admission letter from NUS Singapore for MS degree in aug 13 intake. Will be leaving to Singapore by July 13. Does it have any impact on application? Anyways I guess my name wont turn up anywhere in application.

            I have one query in filling form DS 160 for my mom. "She is an insurance advisor in leading Insurance company and pays income tax properly. However its not a fixed salary job, used to receive money credited in her account in way of commissions, which varies month by month. Added to it its something like part time job working from home and not a regular 9 am - 5pm job"

            Following were my question:

            1) What should be mentioned in her primary occupation among the list of occupations available in default.

            2) Monthly salary (based on what basis).

              Actually they do not care for FDs, property.
              They base their decisions only on INCOME for working people.
              So when they ask what is his salary, he should be ready with a good figure of more than 10 lacs /yr.( this question is a decision maker).

              Your being in India is a big positive for them
              ( tie to india). They will surely ask about what you are doing, suffice it for your dad to say he is applying
              for colleges in India. ( no need to mention singapore).

              about your mother's occupation ;
              I do not remember the occupation dropdown menu on DS 160.
              If there is an option of part time, she can mention that.
              Salary is whatever she earns roughly . For people in business too, it is the same
              box where they write their approx. income .
