  • Visitor Visa for Mother who is 80+ yr old

    Hello,

    Need some advice.
My Mom wants to visit me in US as a visitor for a period of 6 months. I am a GC holder.

She had travelled during 1998 on visitor visa for a period of 4 months.
Her old passport & visa expired and now she has a new passport. She is 80+ years old.
We need get her new visitor Visa (B2).

Does she have to go for -
    1. Interview in the consulate
    2. Finger printing & Photo

or can she be eligible for Interview Waver Program DROP BOX.

    Appreciate any advice.

    Thanks.

She has to go for neither.

    Eligible for dropbox.

Tip; ON the form DS 160 , do not write 6 months as duration.
    write shorter period.

            Thanks Peace999.

I have submitted the application and got the DropBox Confirmation letter. It reflects following documents to be submitted.

            1. The applicant's valid passport.
            2. A completed DS-160 application barcode
            3. 1 Photograph with white background (2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm) in size. Specifications available

            4. A visa fee receipt (with both copies) for the current visa application fee.
            5. Valid visa copy of the same visa category of either of the parents in which the child is applying (applicable for
child under 14 years of age)

            My queries :

            1. Is their any condition that the documents to be dropped off within specific days/weeks from the time we recd Drop-off confirmation letter.
            1. Do we need to submit any other documents (such as Sponsor Invitation letter, Sponsor salary slips, sponsor employer letter, Sponsor Tax Filed papers, Sponsor W2, applicants bank statements, applicants supporting wealth documents, affidavit for Assurance of return, etc)
            3. Generally how much time does it take to get the visa after dropping off the documents.

Thanks a lot for your guidance all the way along this process...

An invitation letter from the host in US on letterhead. His/her passport + visa copy.
Proof of funding. Bank statements and/or IT returns 1 year for the
Indian person funding the trip. If funding is from US, I-134 + bank docs.
