  • Mom denied visa...need help

My mother had a visa interview at mumbai consulate on 08-aug-05 and she was denied the visa. The reason they said was that her financial condition was not good. Its absolutely wrong because I am working for a Big 5,earning well with a good bank balance. She too has a healthy bank balance, fixed deposits & property in her name.

She carried all the documents and also affidavit on stamp paper convincing her return to India. She is a widow (my father expired 13 yrs ago) and I have an younger unmarried sister back in India.

They asked questions about me, what I do, how much I earn etc, herself and she replied correctly. But neither did they look or asked for any docs.

Friends I read a lot to carry this and that document, but my query is do they take or look any documents like affidavit, statement etc while giving the interview appointment along with DS-156 form at mumbai consulate. If not then they ask all question just based on one form (DS-156)....is it true?

Still I don't know under which section her visa was rejected. But would like your help & advice as how to proceed further and how do I make them look into the document file. Do I need to send a letter from senate or somehting like that.

    Thanks,

    Jai

I am guessing that she perhaps didnot do her interview confidently(main reason)...or...your bank statement showed good expenses of repeated nature against ur income/or a cash deposit of good number the very month or the month before to push the balance forward . ORR it must just be a case of bad luck.

Do they see all the papers at all is a good qn. It is just like buying & carrying along a ticket when u r in a train or a bus. U carry them becoz you are supposed to. And in case someone does end up checking ur papers...you donot want to give scope for rejection based on lack of documentation.

U do the best possible from ur end in everything and leave the rest. This is the only go.

I would advise you to give atleast a 3 month break...reapply....and prepare ur mom well for the interview.

    Good luck!

Her being a widow is an important reason for the refusal. (less ties to India)

      Plus she must
review what she answered to the question about her income.
      Mostly they decide
on the basis of what you say rather than look at the documents.

Senator letters do not work and in fact act against you by creating
      a bias.
