Can the alien come to the USA on a visitor visa or visa-waiver while the H1B petition

iam a Student in Canada .......visited US on B1/B2 in the month of june and my visa got expired in July ...Recently in August i applied for a H1b petition with INS....NOw can i again apply for B1/B2 to visit USA , in Canada while my H1b Petition is in process... PLease let me know.....

Yes, you can . There is no bar to such an application. But do not
write on DS 156 for B1/B2 that you want to work.
