  • Transit Newark Airport

    Hi,

    My Mom is traveling alone (1st time) to Newark Airport (port of entry) Terminal C and needs to get to Terminal A for her connecting flight. I would want her to have a step by step instruction print out in hand, to reduce her stress. And to help me make that instruction list, I would need the below Questions answered. Please Help.

    1. Is 3hrs enough time to clear the port of entry Customs line and get to Terminal C?
    2. What to expect at the customs counter?
    3. Should she claim the baggage and re-check at the security check-in at Terminal A?
    4. What is the Best transportation between terminals?
    5. Is hiring a porter to help with baggage and put her on the transportation to Terminal A, a good idea? If yes how much would that cost?

    Any help would appreciated.

    3 hrs should be enough. She will have to claim her check-in baggage for the customs clearance and recheck it for her domestic flght.

    Instruct her on how to complete the I-94 and customs forms that will be given to her right before landing at newark.
    I-94 is an important form that has two parts attached togehter, the officer will keep one and staple the other to the passport.
    It will carry the date of her permitted stay.
    Sample forms are available on CBP.gov

    CBP immigration clearance;
    1.Present her passport and I-94 form to the officer.
    They will ask her the purpose and duration of her visit. Answer should be concise," visiting child for 4 months".
    If she cannot speak in English, she should carry a written note.

    They have a skytrain of somesort between terminals. Go to the EWR airport website and they have all the details.

    They have help-personnel all over , so your m other should not hesitate to ask any of them.

      Thank you Peace999

      Thank you, that was a quick response.

      I think that covers all.

      Was wondering if you know what are the typical questions that a Visitor's Visa holder would be asked at the Port of Entry counter.
      (looked around the net but in vain)

        I covered that in my last reply;

        Typically, they ask purpose and duration from all visitor visa holders.
