  • Tourist Visa B2

    I am planning to apply for my US tourist visa. My background is that I am just about to turn 26. I'm unmarried. I've studied in UK for 3 years and graduated in 2008. Since then I've been studying for my cfa and doing some part time consulting work along with some equity trading on my mothers account. I do not have a stable source of income. 2 of my childhood friends are working in US with reputed companies on H1B visa's. I am planning to visit them in Chicago and DC.

    My brother whose 30 years old and working will be my sponsor. My friends in the US can also send me a sponsorship letter if required. I am starting a job with a listed private company from the 15th of july. So would like to visit the US before it. I will show my appointment letter which should prove my intentions of coming back to india.

    I was planning to visit the US in 2008 but my dad passed away that year and my travel plans got canceled. I think now is the right opportunity for me to travel.
    I live with my mom and brother in our own apartment in a posh part of Delhi. We also have a land parcel in gurgaon. Both properties are in my mothers name. She also has investments in the stock market worth over 20L.

    How can improve my chances of getting a tourist visa?

    Please help

    Regards

    You havent mentioned the purpose of your trip.

    Young,unmarried, just starting on a job, brother sponsoring are all negatives for you.

    Land banks/investments not in your name are not evidence enough of your ties to home country.

    This is my opinion not legal advice.

      Purpose of the trip is purely tourism. I know there are quite a few negative factors. Which is why I want advice in how to improve my visa application.

      All help is appreciated.

        Sincere advice;
        Do not apply ; it will be a sure denial.

        The reason is very simple; NO TIES TO INDIA.
        The only ties they look at are
        *a stable job,
        *very good income
        * spouse and kids.

        You do not have any.
        They do not look at property, bank balances, shares etc. they do not even ask about them.
        And they do not look at any documents. no sponsorship from US friends it is all negative unless you have own ties.

        Adv;
        Apply after you have worked some time in your job. And pay your own way, showing someone else's funding is a big
        negative for a young person.

            I gave you an advice but you are not ready to listen to that.

            You want to get a visa without showing any work ties to india; will not happen.

                      If you really want to apply go ahead. Besides getting a good job, and family there is very little that young people can do for convincing the consular officer about the real intent to coem back to their home country. If you had been to 20-30 countries in last 5 years it might be a different case but the officers are really reluctant to give visitor visas to casual visitors.

                      This is my opinion not legal advice.
