  • Parents visitor visa rejected thrice, trying for fourth time need advice

    Dear Friends,

My parent's visitor visa was rejected thrice in the past. Once in 2010 and twice in 2011. I am their only son and I am in H1B visa here in US. My father is working on a private job in a manufacturing factory and mother is not working. Everytime they ask him only these questions - 1. why and where are you going to US, 2. who is in US, 3. Where is your son working and 4. is he the only child......then they say you visa is rejected.. They never ask any of their ties in India or financial information. Once they asked for his monthly income and he said 30k/month.. He will retire this June and I am really confused whether to apply for their visa now or should I wait till he retire..

My grandparents are staying with my parents and by any means my parents has to go back to India to take care of them...but he is not getting a chance to explain these to the VO as he is not asking any details...pls. help.

    Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Some more details - they took their interviews in Tamil in Chennai consulate.. They are not fluent in english.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Ram

Well, there are many parents out there who have been denied like that.

Having only child in US makes them think parents won't come back,
especially when they have modest income in India.
This is something you cannot change hence the repeated denials.

Maybe your mother could try alone. Even with that there are no guarantees.

Tamil or English --does not matter.

Thank you for the reply. Will it help if they state that I am in H1B and i myself am not a permanent resident here? Another question, I understand its difficult for them to get a visa..but does it have more probability before my father retires? or after he gets retired?

      Thanks and Regards
      Ram

Retired is not so good as you do not even have the work ties to show.

But in your case it is "the only child in US" thing , so they are not even considering his work status.

About H-1b, they already know your status. They go through your DS 160 even before you are at the window.

If you ever plan to return to India and have arranged employment in India, that could work.
They could show that you are returning ( show Indian employment) and they want to see US before their son returns.

Otherwise, they can keep trying while he is working , some people succeed in as many as 5 attempts.
