  • B2 US visa interview question doubt for doing business as saree sale in home

my dad worked in a private company and got VRS. after that he is doing saree sale business in home itself. so in DS160 I have mentioned primary occupation as business and mentioned his previous job in previous employment. So for the question "what are u doing now?'" , what he should say? Will any problem come for saying saree sale business in home? Please guide accordingly.

Just say " I am in saree sale business" . If asked more, he can say he is running it from home. There is no problem with it.
A major factor in the decision will be his income . They will definitely ask about it.

Thanks for your post. We have rented our one of house. so annual income will be around 2Lakhs only. IS it good to say as 2Lakh or may he increase the annual income? will they ask for any proof for income?

Even if you are sending I-134 for your parents,
many officers will look at the parents' income as ties to India.

2 L is very low and carries a risk.
Showing a minor increase will not make any difference.
They will not ask for any proof for 2, 3 L income.

In my opinion, he should apply as things are.
Some officers are lenient and will grant the visa if your I-134 and
            good income are in place.

As I mentioned below, he worked in a private company for more than 25 years and got VRS by 2008. So he s dng saree bussiness only from 2009 jus to engage him. so now what proof he wants to show for doing saree business in home?

His occupation is just one factor. Ties to India and financial ability to sponsor the trip are equally important.
                >what proof he wants to show for doing saree business in home?
                Tax returns ?
This is my opinion. Not a legal advice

Only Tax return is enough? or anything we have to keep ready from our side for dng this business. My husband is sponsoring for my dad nd mom. We have property and my brother s studying in college. Also I have a question, will VRS comes under "retired"? bcz in ds-160 I have not indicated primary occupation as retired but only as business and self-employed.
