  • My Father lost his US Visitor Visa stamped Passport

    Hi,
Thanks to Immihelp, My parents were issued 10Yr Multiple entry Visitors Visa last year . They visited US last year. But after they went back to India, My Dad lost his passport. He is 61 years old and he has a duplicate passport now and also an appointment in the US consulate to re-apply for Visitors Visa.

    Now the situation is:
We have the FIR for the lost passport but we do not have the photocopy
    of the lost passport.

What kind of questions can he expect this time?
Since he does not have the copy of his lost passport , will that create a problem ?
I have blocked tickets for my parents. But i am concerned about my dads Visa.

Can some one guide me as to how i can prepare my dad for this kind of a situation with consular. That will be of great help

    Thanks

If you don't have the copy of the old passport, there is nothing you can do about it.

Take the FIR report and hope for the best.

      Hi,
my mom recently applied for a B2 visitor visa. She has been granted a 10 yr mult. visa. Before one day of travel date she was robbed and lost her passport along with US visa.
She reappeared with her duplicate passport (she did not have copy of lost passport) and carried her FIR to the consulate along with complete application material she produced during her first interview.
The consular officer was surprised to see my mom and asked why she was still in India after issuing a visa. When my mom explained the situation, she checked in computer system and glanced over the FIR with a big smile.
She immediately told my mom to pay the fees and go home and wait for her visa. she has been granted 10 yrs mult. visa again. she is now in US with her new passport and new b2 visa.

So i do not think they will ask you a lot of questions. However, as your father lost his passport after the visit, they might consider to question again about how you lost it, when did he return to India. it would have been good if he had a copy of his arrival and departure stamps at least.

      Any how, best of luck
