  • Duration of stay to be mentioned in letter to consulate and Invitation letters

    Hi Team,

I am on L1B visa which is expiring in next 6 months, I am planning to sponser vistor visa for my parents. I am going to specify the duration of stay (of my parents with me in USA) as 5 months (instead of 6 months) in letter to consulate and invitation letters..is that going to affect in anyway (like getting vistor visa for smaller duration etc..)my parents visitor visa..?

    Regards,
    Pavan.

It is important not to mention a long duration to the visa officer. Even 5 months is too long. Mentioning 3 months is just fine.

Moreover, stay is determined at the port of entry and not by the visa duration. Even if they get a 3 month visa in theory, they can still get
a 6 month duration of stay at port of entry.
