Hi There,
I am staying in the USA J1 visa and inviting my mother to visit me. She can't speak and understand English or Hindi, so she chose to appear for interview in Bengali in US Embassy Kolkata. Although, she opted and asked to send her to Bengali speaking window, her token number was displayed on some window. The officer in the window told that he can speak in English or Hindi, which my mother cannot. He asked for documents in English, which she didn't understand. As a result, her visa was refused on 214(b). CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT IS THE WAY TO TAKE THE INTERVIEW IN BENGALI? Again if she applies with $160, she may have someone with non-Bengali speaking visa officer ending with same result. If they don't provide Bengali-speaking VISA officer, why keep the option for visa interview in Bengali?
Thank you for any help with information.
