50K income is not good enough for self funding. policies, balances do not really matter.
    Also important
; if you are single or married
; if you have any relatives in US.
;your purpose of visit is important.
; how long have you been working
; if you are traveling alone or with someone.

I am single, have been working for more than 10 years.
No relatives in USA, its tourism only, NYC and Vegas is where the trip is planned.
Going with a friend its solely tourism and there is no other agenda.
Was just trying to get some information before applying.
Have been to Asian countries on short trips, BKK, Hongkong,Macau.

I am not telling you to change your plans but if you are travelling with your friend and your salary is 6L per annum, then take ideally a Schengen visa first and visit countries in Europe before trying for US visa.

There is a difference between travelling to SE Asian countries and the US. Most of these countries are not expensive to travel to, cost of travel to HK + Macau + Bangkok would be less than your travel to US. Moreover these are all small countries and travelling around is not a challenge.

If your intention is to travel with your friend then Europe would be a better bet to start with. The next time you apply for your US visa, officer would know that you have a clean record of travelling abroad with your friends and you did not try and apply for a job in Europe.

Moreover, travelling to Europe would be more expensive than travelling to SE Asian countries so VO will be convinced that you have managed your expenses in the past so US should not be a problem for you.

Thanks a lot was very helpful. Looks like i have to push the trip further and travel Europe. just out of curiosity, last month had one of my friend who applied for a US visa and got it approved. She makes about 7L per annum and her last travel was Egypt. Just asked her purpose of visit, how much she makes. Guess i have to wait. Thanks a lot for help its much appreciated.
