Well after a while of talking every day on cam on the internet my Philippine Girl Friend and I decided we need to make this a permanent relationship. The problem is she got married in the Philippines and broke up with her ex 4 years ago. I am learning about culture in the Philippines and yes I have found they cannot divorce but ask for an annulment which is a long process close to a year and about $3500.00 USD for a Philippine attorney.
I am looking for options. She has a relative here in the U.S. she wishes to visit in California. I have heard she may apply for a divorce in Las Vegas which is 4 hours away from her relative without her ex being present but she must be a resident of Las Vegas for 6 weeks to apply for a divorce? If she gets her L.V. divorce she must send paper work back to the Philippine authorities to establish she is divorced here in the USA. She will be working in Singapore through a Philippine contractor so she will be on vacation here from that job but needs to go back to work. I will meet her one day in Singapore and establish our meeting.
Last we would like to file for a K-1 fiance visa and be married within 90 days to her. I realize I will have to prove I can support her. What are the issues with this scenario. Awaiting the outcome of the divorce bill in the Philippines that would change everything. Please advise as this is all very new this.
