I am currently on H1B and will be getting married in a few months. My future wife lives in India. Can she apply for a visitor visa and travel with me to USA on visitor visa for 3-4 months? She wants to go back within 3-4 months back to India after marriage for work commitments, and if we file for dependent visa (H4), shoe would not be able to do so.

Why would she not be able to go back to India on H4? In fact she would have a better chance at getting H4 than a casual B2 visa.Originally posted by adichacha View PostI am currently on H1B and will be getting married in a few months. This is my opinion not legal advice.

Only while on US soil. Even on a B2 she shouldnt be working on US soil.Originally posted by adichacha View PostOn dependent visa, you cannot earn. So she cannot even have an Indian employer.
She can take a few weeks/months leave or unpaid vacation from her current company and come on H4 stay with you and go back.
During her H4 interview she can say so too. Thats what many who want to come to US temporarily do if they want to go back and work , nothing new. Its a different matter if the company she is working for doesnt allow her to take that long leave.

I am in the US on a H1B visa and initially the project is just for 2 months.
But after coming here, my project got extended till the year end(its a hard stop and no extension further). I cant stay without my wife and kid for such long therefore thought of immediately initiating H4 for my wife and daughter.
Paid the fees and when I tried to book the slots, due to the peak season, the waiting time was 110 days which comes to almost 4 months. Therefore immediately converted them into B2 (visitor) Visa and I got the slots in first week of August.
Is it fine to bring m wife and daughter on visitor visa?
what re the implications of it?
Any help/information in this regard would be much appreciated.

Hey,
Can you please share your experience? I am also having the same issue and wants to apply for B2 visa for my wife, due to non-availability of H4b slots at all the embassies across India.
Thanks,
Sahil

Hey Sahil, what did you do finally? I am in the same boat. H4 slot are available only after 100 days, B2 slots in 2 weeks. Four months is a very long wait time!Originally posted by Sahil Gupta View PostHey,
